"Each soul is potentially divine."
- Swami Vivekananda
For this circle of friends, i.e. the Mitra Mandal, Yoga is the Science of the Mind that helps us develop methods and processes that systematically guide us towards a deeper and more unconditional understanding of ourselves.
Our symbolic root lineage, lies with Satyananda Yoga, a royal path of yoga that includes the philosophical orientation and practices of, a) Kundalini Yoga; also called Laya yoga, b) Kriya Yoga, c) Mantra Yoga, d) Dhyana Yoga as elaborated by Sri Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita as well as e) Patanjali Yoga which is concerned with "blocking the manifest patterns/expressions of the mind".
But by "Our Yoga" we don't mean Satyanand Yoga alone, every other authentic lineage and tradition of yoga better elaborating any one of the above mentioned systems of yoga would be equally relevant to our community of practitioners, we look forward to hosting teachers of incredible caliber from all these traditional systems, who could guide our practices and orient us in no matter how small a way to a better understanding of Yoga.
Our Yoga is also concerned with living, relevant, verifiable practices that apply to our mundane lives that enrich our days beyond the hour we spend on the mat with postures and breathing exercises. For this Bhakti Yoga, Karma Yoga and Jnana Yoga traditions would also be considered to be equally critical to "Our Yoga", for they facilitate the absorption of Yogic abstractions in incredibly simple ways into the reality of our daily lives.
