Dr Rishi Vivekananda is a senior Acharya from the Satyananda Yoga lineage. Most recently, Rishi Vivekananda has been traveling, as an Ambassador of the lineage, spending three months of the year in Australia, and the rest of the time teaching in India, Europe and the Americas.
Dr Rishi Vivekananda graduated from the University of Sydney Medical School and has been a Consultant Psychiatrist for 39 years. During most of that time, he has taken a keen interest in ways to integrate the ancient eastern techniques of Yoga with the modern knowledge of the mind, the functioning of the body, and healing. Currently, Dr Rishi Vivekananda is committed to creating knowledge and practices on Yoga's role in aiding the evolving human personality.
During the last four decades, Dr Rishi Vivekananda has also been a full time sannyasin and international lecturer in Yoga. He received his training in Satyananda Yoga in India during the years 1973-77. Paramahansa Satyananda Saraswati formally initiated him into Sannyasa in 1976. Rishi Vivekananda helped found the Satyananda Ashram, Australia between the years 1974-77. Between 1977-86, Rishi Vivekananda, traveled across Europe, Australia, North America and India spreading the message of Satyananda Yoga. In 1993, Paramahansa Nirajananda Saraswati initiated him into Rishi Sannyas.
